Dental Implant Cost
Factors that Affect the Cost of Dental Implants
Number of Implants
The number of implants you need will affect your overall costs. Patients who need just one titanium implant and abutment to replace a single tooth will have lower dental implant costs than patients needing four or more implants to replace an entire arch of missing teeth.
Other Dental Procedures
Some patients may need to undergo extraction of a tooth or several teeth prior to receiving implants. Others may have been without teeth for so long that they have suffered severe jawbone loss and need a bone graft to restore these tissues. The type and number of dental procedures needed to qualify for implants will impact the overall costs.
Type of Restorations
Although Dr. Hopkin does not design or place the crowns, bridges, or dentures that attach to the implant himself, it is still a factor to consider when determining the cost of implants. We recommend speaking with your dentist to determine the type of dental restoration you will need and if you will be provided with a temporary restoration during healing. The materials used and the type of restoration can affect the overall cost of your dental implants. As a cost-saving measure, Dr. Hopkin and your dentist may be able to convert an existing denture to attach directly to dental implants.
Surgical Experience
Choosing a skilled dentist and board-certified oral surgeon should be your first consideration. The surgeon’s experience will affect the cost of your implant surgery. Often, more experienced surgeons are more expensive; however, because dental implant placement is a highly complex procedure, it is not recommended that patients look for the “cheapest” option. Doing so may ultimately incur more cost if the work of a less experienced professional requires additional procedures to correct. Finally, dentists quoting low estimates may not be including all of the factors involved in the procedure.
